Good Afternoon Vulcan Senior Parents!
The Mitten just gave us all one more reason for seniors to complete the FAFSA and stay here in Michigan. Effective today the State of Michigan is sponsoring up to an an additional $5,500 of renewable scholarship money for Michigan graduates. This is good at Community Colleges, State and public Universities and even accredited private schools.
You can grab all the details on the Michigan Achievement Scholarship here:

Most of our Vulcan Seniors would likely be eligible once they complete the FAFSA. If you haven't started the FAFSA yet you can start here:

Or connect with one of the Delta College help sessions. They're offering several virtual and in-person events in the weeks to come. Check the attached flyer to find one that will work for you.

Good Evening Vulcan Families! We will have a double bus run on the Rhino Bus tomorrow . Students riding the Rhino bus will be picked up and dropped off later than normal tomorrow Friday, November 4.

Congratulations to the following Art students: Maleeya Johnson, Tenleigh Bergman, Kennedy Austin, Elle Johnson, Cora McLaren and Clara Hammon! These students had artwork chosen to be on display at Frankenmuth Credit Union, the location next to Dragon Palace. Their artwork will be on display throughout the month of November, we hope you have time to stop in and visit the display.

Good Evening Vulcans! Tomorrow October 31 will be a half day for students.

Good Evening Vulcan Families! We will have a double bus run on the Camel Bus tomorrow afternoon only. Students riding the Camel and Horse buses will be dropped off later than normal tomorrow Tuesday, October 18.

Still looking for resources to help your Senior Vulcan get ready for what comes next after graduation? Delta College and MiStudentAid will both be hosting a series of virtual and in- person financial aid workshops. Delta even has an on-campus workshop on Monday Oct 24th. That might just be a perfect opportunity to take care of the FAFSA, but also see campus and get to ask questions. Even if Delta isn't on your list, the FAFSA help alone is worth the drive. Especially with the FAFSA being a senior requirement, these workshops are a great way to get something from the senior project marked "DONE!"
As always feel free to email Mr. Hewitt if there are special situations you need help sorting out, or if you have other questions. shewitt@vassar.k12.mi.us.

Good Afternoon Vulcan Families! We will have a double bus run on the Fish Bus this afternoon only. Students riding the Fish and Horse buses will be dropped off later than normal this afternoon.

Good Evening Vulcans! Remember tomorrow Friday, October 14th is Picture Day for Central, Middle School and High School. ALL students will get their picture taken that day for School ID and Yearbook purposes, so please make sure your child is dressed for pictures. If you would like to order pictures, make sure you send the order form and money in with your child, or feel free to order online at www.mylifetouch.com with the Picture ID numbers on the picture attached. Extra order forms are available in each office.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to take a swing at the Robotics Car Smash Fundraiser last Thursday. A very special thank you to Barnum Auto Salvage for sponsoring this event. Despite the poor weather conditions the robotics team raised roughly $200.

Vulcan families! Do you have a senior? Then it's probably time to start thinking about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid- the FAFSA. Not only is this the first step for kiddos planning on college or certificate programs, it is also a requirement as part of EVERY seniors senior project.
The FAFSA application opened this week, so it is the perfect time to get things rolling. We'll have a few opportunities in the coming weeks to get help with the FAFSA, but we know with personal information, some families would rather handle things themselves. Below you can find a great "how to" video from the folks at NerdWallet.

When you're ready to get started follow the link below to create your FAFSA IDs and start the process. Although loans are almost always available, many grants and funds are first come first serve. This is one of those times when it could literally pay to start early.
