We just wanted to alert you of a few IMPORTANT end of the school year dates for our Middle School and High School parents and students: Seniors - May 20 - Cedar Point May 21 - Graduation Rehearsal (mandatory) May 22 - Graduation Ceremony - 7:30 p.m. in the gym This Friday, May 23 is a ½ day of school, releasing at 11:45 a.m.  Next week, May 25-30, there will be NO SCHOOL all week, and there also will be no Tech Center. June 4 – 8th Grade Semi-Formal from 6:00-8:00 p.m. June 9 – MS Choir Concert at 7:00 p.m. June 11 – MS Awards Assembly at 1:00 p.m. in the auditorium.  Parents are welcome to attend, please sign in at the office.  Starting the month of June, we start our ½ day Thursdays, no school Fridays. June 5 - ½ day for students June 6 - No School June 12 - ½ day for students June 13 - No School June 18 - ½ day for students (Exams) June 19 - ½ day for students (Exams) this is the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL ***Attendance make-ups will start June 10th, in Mrs. Torrez’s room. Make-up days will be as follows: June 10 - before school only 6:45-7:45 a.m. June 11 - before school 6:45-7:45 a.m. and after school 2:45-3:45 p.m. June 16 - before school 6:45-7:45 a.m. and after school 2:45-3:45 p.m. June 17 - before school only 6:45-7:45 a.m. Students are allowed to make up a 10th absence, but if they are over 10 absences, they are not allowed to make them up, they will lose credit and receive an E due to attendance (E-A on their report card).  They must serve 1 hour for each of their 10th absences, this gives them 6 opportunities to make up a 10th absence.If you have questions regarding attendance, contact Mrs. Wilcox or Mrs. Legue in the 6-12 Office. Let’s finish the year strong. As usual, feel free to contact the office if you have questions about any of this information.

Reminder!! We’re excited to invite our community to a brand new event — Senior Symposium — on May 12th from 3:00–5:00 P.M. in the High School Cafeteria! Come hear from our amazing Seniors as they share their post-secondary plans, reflect on highlights from their school years, and talk about their job shadow experiences. Let’s show up and celebrate all of their hard work and bright futures ahead!

Vassar was proud to honor Caiden Jackson as our 2025 Turnaround Student at the Tuscola Technology Center Luncheon on Wednesday! This award, chosen by our 6–12 staff, celebrates a senior who has shown growth in academics, behavior, attendance, and/or character throughout their school career. Caiden’s dedication and perseverance have been recognized by staff and we are excited to celebrate his achievements. Way to go, Caiden!

🎓💙 Thank You for Supporting Our Seniors! 💙🎓 On Monday, May 5th, Vassar High School proudly hosted its annual Awards Ceremony, where thousands of dollars in scholarships and numerous prestigious honors were presented to our outstanding students. We are incredibly grateful to the many community members, organizations, and local foundations who have provided scholarships to support our graduating seniors. Your generosity is not only helping students pursue their dreams but also showing them the power of a caring and invested community. Because of your support, these students are taking their next steps with confidence—and with fewer financial burdens. Thank you for believing in them and for investing in their futures!

Design SRO Police Vehicle Finalists! Natally Best and Aubrey Parker were two of the seven finalists in the design of an SRO patrol vehicle. The submissions were amazing, and the students made it really hard to make a final decision.

Vassar's Band, Choir, and Theater groups traveled to the Big Apple last week and had an amazing, educational, unforgettable time! The group visited the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, 9/11 Museum, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, Museum of Modern Art, danced at the Cotton Club, and were able to watch Hamilton on Broadway!!! The Choir sang on Liberty Island and the Band performed on the Intrepid (Naval Ship). The students and parents made memories that they will carry with them for years to come.

This week, May 5–9, Vassar Public Schools will celebrate Staff Appreciation Week! We have a week full of fun spirit days for staff and students, and thanks to our sponsors, staff will receive special treats each day. #VassarVulcans #StaffAppreciationWeek #ThankYouVPSStaff #VPSFamily #WeAreVulcans

As prom approaches, we're sending a powerful message: one wrong choice can change your life forever. This week, you'll see a wrecked vehicle displayed in the parking lot across from the high school — a sobering reminder of the real consequences of drinking and driving. This car was involved in a real accident and stands as a symbol of what’s at stake. Thank you to Ten-Point Towing for sponsoring this display and helping us emphasize the importance of safe choices. 🎓 Let prom be a night to remember for the right reasons. 📵 Don’t drink and drive. 🎨 Starting tomorrow, don't miss this amazing display at the Bullard Sanford Library, Apr. 29-May 3!🎨 Stop by the library to see a special Don Quixote-themed exhibit curated by our very own Spanish teacher, Mr. Retberg! This school-wide showcase features incredible artwork by our 6–12 Art students, including: 🖌️ A stunning 5-foot painting by Senior Emma Vela 🎭 Original pieces by Mr. Retberg and Ms. Char, our talented teachers 🧠 Creative interpretations of Don Quixote from students across all grades Stop by the library and check it out this week!

As the school year wraps up, we want to give a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful exchange students who spent this past year with us: Lia from Germany Emma from Finland Over the past school year, they became a part of our school family—sharing their cultures, making new friends, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. We want to wish Lia and Emma all the best as they head back home in June! Also, a special thank you to their host families for opening up their homes and allowing them to have this opportunity!
