Attention parents of 6th-12th grade students. After-school tutoring will be held 5 days per week, starting Wednesday (1/31/23). Tutoring will be from 3:15-4:15 in the Media Center. However, if you need transportation, the bus will now be picking up at 5:00, rather than 4:15, along with our after-school program. If your child plans to attend tutoring regularly and needs transportation, please speak with Mr. Nesbitt about participating in the additional after-school activities, you can call the 6-12 Office if you are interested in the after-school program after tutoring. If you have transportation, please arrange to pick up your child at 4:15.

Tech Center Students! There will be no Tech Center tomorrow Wednesday, February 1 due to the 10th grade field trips.

Our HS Robotics had an outstanding weekend at the Rec Foundation two day drone competition at Kettering University! On the first day, Nick Tallman and Ashley Shindorf lost in the finals and Drey Sousa and Brooke Gross won the Inspire Award. On the second day, Nick and Ashley won the finals with the Flying Delorians from Haslett. Victoria DeKalita and Lukas Hunter, as well as Jordan Proper and Addison Kodrick lost in the finals against Nick, Ashley, and the Delorians. Addison Kodrick and Jordan Proper won the competition for automous programming earning the Programing and Automous Award by scoring 55 out of the 74 points possible. So far 3 of our teams have qualified for Regionals! Thank you to Mr. Tallman for his hard work with our Robotics program and to Mrs. Barber for helping to coach.





All Middle School activities for this evening have been canceled. High School practices will be optional and continue as scheduled. Main roads are clear but secondary roads are snow covered please drive safely! Drama kids please check your Google Classroom for updates. The building will be open for walkers until 7.

Vulcans, due to road conditions, there will be no school on Monday, January 30. Tuesday, January 31, will now be a half day for all students district-wide. Students at the 6-12 building will follow the exam schedule that was planned for Thursday, January 26. There will be no tech center on Tuesday. A decision on all after-school activities will be made by noon on Monday.

6-12 Students,
We will have two additional opportunities for attendance make-up, as we finish Semester 1. Monday, January 30, 6:45am-7:45am and 12:15pm-1:15pm. If you have 10 absences in any hour, you are eligible to participate to reduce your absence count to 9 for that class. If you end the semester with 10 or more absences, you will not receive a passing grade for the class, per the District Handbook. Attendance make-ups will take place in Mrs. Barber's room (111). Transportation will not be provided.

Vulcans we have a very important update! Monday, January 30 will now be a half day for all students district-wide. There is nothing better than seeing the success of our former Vulcan Students! Meet Jessica Beckwith, a 2011 graduate of VHS. Jessica earned a bachelor's degree from SVSU in 2015, where she graduated cum laude. She then went to Trine University, where she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy. Jessica has been a practicing PT for the last three years, mainly working with Orthopedic patients. Do you know a Vassar graduate with a great story we could share? Dear Vulcan Families, Our priority is to keep our parents and families informed regarding any incidents involving our campus and students. This afternoon, a report was received of a student who made threats. The 6-12 staff acted immediately, and at no time were students or employees in danger. The Vassar Police Department and the School Resource Officer are investigating; this investigation is ongoing. Providing a safe and secure learning environment is a top priority. Please be assured we take incidents like this very seriously. Thank you for your continued support of our students and school community.
