Good Morning Vulcan Families! If you have a Vulcan Senior, I'm sure you're already starting to think about how to pay for what comes next. Michigan Student Aid is hosting a series of Virtual Financial Aid workshops over the next few weeks. Not only will they provide help with the FAFSA which is a Senior Project requirement, but they will also have a trove of information on other state and federal programs that can help your family pay for whatever comes next. Best of all, you can attend online, from the comfort of your own home! The attached flyer lists the upcoming dates as well as the link to the registration page. These will be a great opportunity to get financial aid checked off the to-do list. Feel free to email Mr. Hewitt with any questions. shewitt@vassar.k12.mi.us

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to take a swing at the Robotics Car Smash Fundraiser last Thursday. A very special thank you to Barnum Auto Salvage for sponsoring this event. Despite the poor weather conditions the robotics team raised roughly $200.

Vulcan families! Do you have a senior? Then it's probably time to start thinking about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid- the FAFSA. Not only is this the first step for kiddos planning on college or certificate programs, it is also a requirement as part of EVERY seniors senior project. The FAFSA application opened this week, so it is the perfect time to get things rolling. We'll have a few opportunities in the coming weeks to get help with the FAFSA, but we know with personal information, some families would rather handle things themselves. Below you can find a great "how to" video from the folks at NerdWallet. https://www.nerdwallet.com/l/nerdwallet-guide-to-fafsa When you're ready to get started follow the link below to create your FAFSA IDs and start the process. Although loans are almost always available, many grants and funds are first come first serve. This is one of those times when it could literally pay to start early. https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

On Friday 9/30 we had a successful Blood Drive sponsored by the National Honor Society. The National Honor Society volunteered along with other students to help register, monitor and walk donors to and from the donation area. We had a total of 32 appointments - 29 donors showed up to donate. We had students, staff and community members donate for a total of 23 units collected. The American Red Cross team was very pleased with the outcome and stated it was a very good blood drive for our small community.
