Congratulations to Dawn Torrez, who was selected as a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction by the National Society of High Schools Scholars (NSHSS). Dawn was nominated by 11th grader, Kylie Panzner, and is being recognized for her dedication to learning, her commitment to the profession, serving as a role model to the Vulcan Community, and the difference she continues to make in shaping the lives of the students at Vassar Public Schools.
Thank you to Dawn Torrez for her commitment and service to Vassar Public Schools, Kylie Panzner for taking the time to acknowledge and nominate Mrs. Torrez for this award, and to all of our Vassar Staff who continue to do amazing work and provide our students with an outstanding environment to learn, achieve, and succeed.
Submission Nomination from Kylie:
Mrs. Torrez is the one who helped me find NSHSS. She is an amazing teacher, and she's put me on the path to my success through teaching me. Without her, I wouldn't have found my dream career, learned how to budget properly, or even know what colleges to tour.
Mrs. Torrez is an amazing person, teacher, and (after you're out of her class) friend. She tells you when you're in the wrong, she teaches how you learn, she pushes all of her students towards success, and she is always there for you. Mrs. Torrez is someone that if you're having a bad day you can go to and just cry on her shoulder or she'll give you a hug or literally anything you need. She deserves this award because of how hard she works and how dedicated she is to her students.

Regardless of your privacy settings or friends, remember to keep personal information to a minimum.

Early bird classes will start on the first day of school. Students enrolled in an early bird class should report at 6:45 am on Monday.
