• Wolverine Alternative Education

  • Wolverine Alternative Education (WAE) provides educational services for youth in residential placement at Wolverine Human Services (WHS), Vassar site.  There are four schools which service youth who are in different programs. All of the schools use an electric curriculum, Edgenuity, which allows students to obtain credit at their own pace.  Each school has highly qualified teachers, special education teachers, a school social worker, and paraprofessionals to engage students in learning academic content and positive social skills.  In addition, the educational staff at WAE work together with WHS staff to provide the best possible treatment.

  • Special Education Services are available on site and are provided by the Tuscola Intermediate School District. There is a minimum of one special education teacher in each building to provide services to students in an inclusive environment. School social workers work together with the teaching staff as well as the WHS treatment staff to ensure emotional and behavioral needs of the students are met.  Other services for students with speech and language, hearing, and visual impairments are available.

  • GED Preparation and Testing are available on site to eligible students.

  • Classrooms at WAE consist of a maximum of 14 students.  There are enough computer stations for each student.  Educational staff assist students in their Edgenuity courses and monitor their computer usage through a program called LanSchool.
