About Central Elementary
Central Elementary School is a Y5s through 5th grade elementary building located in the city of Vassar, within Tuscola County. We educate a student population of approximately 400 students which are serviced by a staff of twenty-three highly qualified teaching professionals, and assisted by 11 certified classroom paraprofessionals. Central School is serviced by the Tuscola Intermediate School District in providing our students with special education services for psychological services, social work, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, hearing impaired, audiologists, teacher consultants, and the visually impaired.
Central Elementary School is providing students with a number of opportunities academically, physically, socially, and emotionally. Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies are the core curriculum subjects taught. Students also experience Music, PE, and STEAM.
To assist students who have special learning needs, Title I is available during the school day. Special education students are taught inclusively with their peers whenever possible, and trained paraprofessionals provide additional one-on-one help and remediation for students in need. Classroom audio enhancement systems are available in all of Central's classrooms. Before school begins many students are busy with Early Bird Math. Enrichment programs, like Accelerated Reading and Math Programs, Science Fair, Fourth Grade Spelling Bee, Rock and Read, Grade Level Musical Programs, and Compass Learning enhance and enrich students' learning across the curriculum.
The goal of Central Elementary is to meet the needs of all our students. We will continue to strive to meet this goal and to provide our students with the best education possible through the cooperative efforts of our entire staff and community.
